Although it is not necessary for a writer to be a prick, neither does it hurt. A writer is an eternal outsider, his nose pressed against whatever window on the other side of which he sees his material. Resentment sharpens his eye, hostility hones his killer instinct.

Hmmm, never heard that before. But it IS interesting. I know the feeling of looking from the outside in. I think that way we gather information that not everyone wants us to have. Some of us are just more curious than others? Or we live around things that are more interesting to write about?

Thanks for your comment Laura. Or some us see the mundane things others see and grasp aspects of those things that others don't. Sometimes the trick is to look at what everybody has seen and spot what they have overlooked. To achieve that sometimes it helps to be a bit crazy! : ^ )
