Hitler Singing Moving on Up

7/13/2011

It is only fitting that this racist lunatic and his followers that brought so much misery upon this world end up lampooned in this way. "Moving on Up" was the theme song of The Jeffersons, which was the longest running sitcom in the US (1975-1985) with a predominantly African-American cast.

Thanks Sunny and Sally, every now and then I find something amusing on Youtube or somebody else directs me to it. Humor is very important, specially when the building blocks of said humor are not funny at all as in this case.

It's amazing to see what a crazy man he is and to see how creatively someone can apply his mania and mannerisms to that popular TV show song. Very creative. And you're right: appropriate to lampoon him in this way. Especially considering how he viewed minorities.

Thank you for your comment Laura. One of the reasons this satire was possible is that his speeches were so rich in facial expressions and mannerisms. I read he practiced in front of a mirror to perfect his gestures and movements. This, along with the whole propaganda circus with swastikas and whatnot is one of the classical examples of how one can exploit the media to sway the public.
